EYFS Curriculum

Now that we have settled in, established our routines and liaised with staff about our class timetables, I am now able to provide more information to you.

The attachments below give detailed explanations of our Reception Class routines, timetables and key Curriculum information. This would usually be given verbally in a Curriculum meeting with parents, but unfortunately due the current circumstances this is not possible. However, I have tried to be as detailed as possible, knowing that many of you are new parents to the school.

If you do have any questions, please do ask. I hope that you find the information below useful. laugh

Please find below our Long Term Plan for the year 2020-2021

& Autumn Term 1 Medium Term Plan

EYFS Introduction

We are an Early adopter school for the new Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS 2020). This means that we will be following the new curriculum a year early and will be following the new 'Development Matters 2020'.

During our time in the Reception class we learn the importance and joy of being part of our school community, by joining in with school routines and events.  By the end of the year we are confident, independent and firmly established within school life.

Curriculum Subjects

During the day we learn through play, exploring and discovering from all the learning areas in our classroom.

These 7 learning areas include:

Prime Areas - Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, and Communication and Language

Specific Areas - Numeracy, Literacy, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design

Reading is a very important part of the Early Years curriculum, so we spend a lot of time enjoying listening to and joining in with a variety of stories.  A strong grasp of phonics helps us to become independent readers.
