Task Two - Creative writing

Your second English task is to write your own version of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. I would like you to be as creative as possible - you could add in different events, characters and settings. Just ensure your story has a clear introduction, problem/s and a resolution(s). You may want to plan on Day 1, write on days 2 and 3, then edit on days 4/5. Remember to include all the features that we have been practising in class: colons, semi-colons, fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases, hyphenated words, drop in clauses, relative clauses, similes, metaphors etc. Also do not forget all the special sentence types we have looked at - eg.'the more, the more' 3ed etc. Please see the link below for all the resources that you will need for this activity.

Extensions:

1. Change your narrative into a comic strip (use onomatopoeia and character speech)

2. Recreate key parts of the story using toys and objects from around the home - photograph these scenes, print them (if possible) and write a caption for each.

If you wish, you could also carry on writing your diary for the remainder of this lockdown period - what an interesting thing this will be to look back on in years to come!
